About the Venue
Tuolumne Trails is an ADA accessible camp for individuals who have a special need or disability. Since its inception in 2008, Tuolumne Trails has strived to provide all-accessible programs for children and adults of all needs and their families.
Concerts for a Cause is the third annual music series at Tuolumne Trails' all-accessible amphitheater. With a top-of-the-line sound system and accessible seating, this brand-new performance space will allow talented performers and guests of all needs to enjoy the gift of music for years to come, making music more accessible to all.
All proceeds from the Concerts for a Cause music series will benefit Tuolumne Trail's summer programs to keep moving forward with their mission: to create inclusion and safe recreation for all in the outdoors.
Ilya Serov
Award-winning trumpeter, singer, guitarist, band leader Ilya Serov has a passion for jazz that knows no bounds. A talented young musician with an old soul, Ilya brings an infusion of imagination, vision and energy to the many shades of America’s original musical art form. Possessing both chops and charisma, his live performances and recordings have attracted a solid following among jazz fans and seasoned musicians alike.
Ilya’s experiences on the jazz scene have recently led him to expand his creative interests in a significant new direction that blends smooth jazz with elements of soul and R&B. In November 2021, he released his third studio album, “Just Friends,” which features platinum-selling saxophonist Dave Koz and other award-winning artists: keyboardist Greg Manning, saxophonist Alex Hahn, vocalist Matt Cusson and guitarist Kay-Ta Matsuno. The album is dedicated to one of America’s most iconic jazz trumpet players and singers, Chet Baker, and is titled after Baker’s classic jazz standard of the same name. Baker was the inspiration that pushed Ilya to begin finding his own voice in the jazz world. As his own style matured, Ilya wondered what Baker, with his musical genius, would sound like as a contemporary jazz artist today. With “Just Friends,” Ilya strives to show the connection between several generations of jazz.
In the last few years, Ilya has performed at a number of notable festivals and concert series, including the Newport Beach Jazz Festival, Catalina JazzTrax Festival, Laguna Beach Festival of Arts, TOARTS Concert Series, Big Bear Jazz Festival and Daytona Jazz Weekend, among others.
Jeff Ryan
Born in Walnut Creek, CA and raised there and in Asheville, NC, Ryan was born around so much music that it was begging him to play. His dad is a classical concert pianist, his mom played tracker organ and viola and his grandfather was a music teacher. He started playing piano at age six and took violin lessons upon the urging of his grandfather, but he knew he had found his true musical home when he started on the sax at age ten. “Performing-wise I did not relate to the sound of the piano, and upon finding the sax it immediately clicked. The saxophone allows me to exactly express how I feel musically,” he says. After starting his college years at Diablo Valley College in Concord, he attended the famed Berklee College of Music as a performance major. He later returned to Northern California, where he studied music production at the Pyramind Sound Institute in San Francisco.
After years of playing in a variety of regional soul, funk and even big band ensembles, the San Francisco Bay Area based saxophone sensation has captivated thousands with his robust, heartfelt vibe at numerous prominent Northern California jazz festivals – including a four year run at the Stockton Jazz Festival, where he has opened and performed along with urban jazz greats Marion Meadows, Eric Darius, Paul Taylor, Nick Colionne and Julian Vaughn. Fans in Southern California have seen him jam with guitarist Nils at Spaghettini. Now, with the release of “Up and Up” and his multi-faceted debut album Embrace, Ryan is in prime position to join their ranks as one of contemporary jazz’s top emerging artists.
